Jeun’ Espoir inc. is a registered charitable organization whose mandate includes alleviating poverty in developing nations by providing the poor with the necessities of life such as food, housing, medication, anti-malaria mosquito nets and other basic supplies, as well as facilitating access to education by building and maintaining schools in certain communities.

Known as Garneau en Jamaïque at its beginning in 1995, the project operated as a non-profit organization under the name Jeun’Espoir Jamaïque from 2001 until the summer of 2007, when we obtained charitable status and changed our name to the current one.

Who are we?

OUR MISSION

Jeun’ Espoir inc.’s main objective is to give young Canadians a cultural experience at the same time as they bring their help to disadvantaged countries. To reach that objective, we seek to find a balance between three goals we have established: educate, share and help.

This type of experience truly enriches young people and leaves no one indifferent. Moreover, they return home with a greater awareness of social injustice, ready to get involved in their community in order to make a difference.

From 1999 to 2015, groups of teenagers accompanied by a few adults spent their March break in poverty-stricken regions of Jamaica in order to lend their assistance in various projects.

Since 2004, Jeun’ Espoir has also taken groups of adults (younger and older) to Benin (West Africa), Ecuador (South America), El Salvador (Central America), and to Laos and Cambodia (Southeast Asia).

In 2018, a youth group will travel to Mexico for the first time.
