Between 1999 and 2015, seventeen groups of high-school students devoted their time, energy, love and vacation time in order to participate in the life of various Jamaican communities by taking part in projects ranging from construction and painting to cleaning and social work.

Thanks to the financial commitment of each participant and to an annual fundraising campaign, Jeun’ Espoir:

  • provided housing for 24 families

  • built 1 ice cream/grocery shop

  • assembled 6 play structures

  • improved the sanitary and pedagogical conditions in a number of schools

  • participated in numerous renovations

  • visited hundreds of school children, abandoned children and elderly people.

Jeun’Espoir Jamaïque received an Excellence in community service award from the Jamaican (Ottawa) Community Association (2002) and the Martin Luther King Dreamkeepers Award (2007).

The group projects in Jamaica are on break since 2015, but some of our adult volunteers still spend a few months a year volunteering in this country.
