The St. Francis Primary and Infant School is located at 16 Old Hope Road, Kingston 5.  Its immediate environs are the Business District of Cross Roads.  The school is nestled among the beautiful Lignum Vitae trees of Alvernia property once called Nuns Pen, which is one of the early beginnings of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany in Jamaica.  In 1890 the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany officially opened the doors of Saint Francis All Age School.  We have then undergone much transformation and is currently a Primary and Infant School.  This name change took place in 1993.  St. Francis Primary and Infant School serves as the Practicing School for the St. Joseph’s Teachers’ College.

The St. Francis Primary and Infant School has developed over the years and is held in high esteem, it has developed a good relationship with the business community and although St. Francis serves the Swallowfield Community where children who live in that community are given first priority for a space at the school, consideration is also given to parents who live in other sections of the Kingston 5 area as well as those who work in the business community.

The children who attend St. Francis Primary and Infant School come from different strata of society.  Their socio-economic status range from lower to middle class; in an effort to regularize the attendance of some children and provide them with an education certain necessities are put in place to assist some of the needy students.
